Going Gray

Gray hair showing up early in life runs in my family. My dad’s cousin was all white in her late 20s. But I didn’t even think about why I was doing it when I first colored my hair in my early 30s. I just know that I kept it up until I felt I had to “touch up” every 2 weeks. That’s a lot of work and a lot of chemicals on my head.

So last summer I decided to quit; I went cold-turkey. And I told myself I would get through the ugly stuff without cutting my hair, as so many resort to in order to make that change happen sooner. But about 6 weeks in, I cried “uncle” to a master hair-colorist here in Burbank (Sharon Sovinski at My Bella Color Studio). She made all the colors blend together so now I don’t need to worry about color lines. Oh – and I get lots of compliments.
