Morning Prayer

Here’s what I’ve found: if you wait for the perfect opportunity to record a song, it never happens.  It takes hours of prep, charts, studio setup, etc. But if you seize the moment when both you and your partner happen to have a spare few minutes, you just might get something simple down.

That’s how it’s been these past few years.  So on Monday, the clouds parted and Kenny and I recorded an old song written by our buddy Tony Lavender.  I’m not religious-minded, but this song has always been a favorite of mine.

P.S. The picture attached to this post is of the ceiling of St. James Church in Sauk Village, IL. I was back there visiting family recently and was able to go in on a rainy Saturday morning and take a few pictures of the inside….I spent many Saturdays and Sundays there in my youth.
